Co-Owner and Microbiologist
Rob Green received his Bachelor's of Science in Biology at the University of the Incarnate Word, with concentrations in Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Genetics. He continued his research at University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in Genetics and Protein Physiology. Currently his work specializes in designing human protein production and isolation protocols for various projects by genetically transforming bacteria and yeast. With this background and a limitless supply of mentors, Rob designed our rapid yeast identification system, as well as our custom propagation tanks, to bring quality yeast cultures to institutions and breweries alike.
Mara Young Green
Co-Owner and Managing Member
Mara received her Bachelor's degrees in both Religion and Cultural Studies at the University of the Incarnate Word, followed by a Master's Degree in Religious Studies at UIW's Pastoral Institute. With over 15 years of administrative, managerial, and business experience, Mara handles the Texas Cultures Laboratories daily operations as well sustainability and conservation outreach and partnerships. The couple first started collecting native yeast samples in the fall of 2016, building up their lab and equipment along the way. They spend their days hiking and kayaking the Texas countryside, backpacking into the remote backcountry with their lovable dog Frannie, collecting sample vials of flowers, fruits, berries, and sap, then cultivated in their lab in San Antonio, TX.
